The brief

Move the kitchen into a currently unused end reception room. Open up to middle room and style in an 'ultra-modern and streamlined' way, whilst retaining the fireplace and battling with two through corridors.

The solution

By punching through openings from the middle reception to kitchen, and kitchen to back office, a natural corridor divides one single run of base units from the main work space of the 3.3 metre island. The addition of a small stud wall encloses a floor to ceiling pantry next to the fireplace, whilst a hugh alcove seamlessly encases the American fridge freezer.
